John Watkins is currently employed at Sun Coast Hospital as the Director of Marketing.
John serves on many committees at the Seminole Chamber, including the Membership Directory, Seminole Stampede, the Seminole Holiday Night Parade, Small Business Education Foundation and the Golf Tournament. In addition, John serves as President of the Kiwanis Club of Largo/Mid-Pinellas. He is also an Elder and Head Usher at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg.
John was born and raised in northwest Indiana. After attending Indiana University, majoring in Marketing & Management, John joined his parents in LaPorte, Indiana, opening their first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in July 1965.
Six months later, John moved to Rochester, NY, and became a franchisee for KFC. John remained in the business for 15 years, after opening the first of 6 restaurants in 1966 in Upstate and Southern Tier of New York.
Moving to Seminole in 1979, John became active in SYAA in the soccer program. John is married to former Seminole Chamber Board President, Trina Watkins. They have six children and 11 grandchildren.
